Apple Croquettes (Frittelle di mele)

3 apples
2 eggs
4-5 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
100ml milk
Oil to fry
Sugar/Brown sugar

1. Peel and cut the apples in pieces

2. Beat the eggs and then mix together with the flour, the sugar, the baking powder, the milk till to create a liquid cream.

3. Merge in the cut apples.

4. Warm the oil in a pan

5. With a spoon take from the mix of cream and apples and put it in the warm oil.

6. Fry each croquette on both sides for 5 minutes until they are golden.

7. Put the croquette in a dish covered with blotting paper.

After the oil have been absorbed, move the croquettes in a large dish and sprinkle with sugar/brown sugar.

Yum yum!


This is the recipe that my grandmother transmitted to my mother, so for me it has a very clear family smell.
This is a sweet dish which can be served as a dessert but also as afternoon Snacks or breakfast.
In my region (Piemonte - North Italy) it is used to serve these "frittelle di mele" at Carneval time.
