Spinach and Pear Salad with Parmesan

Ingredients

Spinach (or arugula)
Pear
Parmesan
Olive oil
Crema di Balsamico
Walnuts
Black pepper

1. Prepare spinach and pear.

2. Use a high quality parmesan and slice it thin.

2. You can add olive oil, Crema di Balsamico, and nuts, preferably walnuts, to top it.

3. Season it with some freshly cracked black pepper.

My recommendation for wine: pair the salad with a nice bottle of crispy Pinot Grigio.

Background

An easy, quick, and delicious summer salad that features spinach, pear, and parmesan. Alternatively, you can switch the spinach to arugula - the bitterness of the latter will harmonize well with the pear.
In the recent years, my wife, Lauren, and I lived in the US, Israel, Hungary, and Germany. Our everyday cooking is a combination of her native, African-American, cuisine, my East-Central European heritage, as well as our deep appreciation for local foodways wherever we live or travel to. There are some dishes that accompanied us everywhere we went. Among them, summer salads are especially memorable to us as they remind us of the time we first met in Washington, DC.
